PROLOGUE: PARADIGM SHIFT

Humanity’s embrace of technology is accelerating social change, taking us to new realms of possibility. What started in Silicon Valley is now carried to new heights by Elon Musk, through his many innovation-based companies. These interdependent enterprises are taking a more integrated approach to developing technology, allowing it to advance on a much broader front and many times faster than if left to grow organically.

Electric vehicles which leave conventional cars in the dust, fully reusable spacecraft to take life to new worlds, open architecture AI, direct brain to computer interface, 3D printed cures for disease; Elon Musk seems everywhere all at once. Effectively he’s stamped the technologic accelerator, allowing unprecedented advances in our time. Overall this promises to have enormous effect on Earth culture and humanity’s future, aiming us for realms unimagined.

Technological disruption will inevitably influence society, producing a new paradigm for existence. Realistically some might gain more than others but overall the benefits from these new technologies should be ubiquitous. Humanity adapts to new situations, and in the process profoundly changes, so it should be possible to explore this next evolutionary step through understanding the effects of this technologic revolution.

Elon Musk is opening our minds to what is possible, enabling investment to flow to new areas and providing novel opportunities for innovation. Purpose gives us direction which determines our destination – somewhere far from where we started.

As Dorothy once said in the Wizard of Oz: “I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
